These guidelines are for July/August 2020 classes. September 2020 and Preschool guidelines coming soon.
Mommy & Me parents are considered dancers and will stay with their child at all times :)

We are so glad to be able to provide a safe happy place for our dancers. Thank you for your trust and dedication to our CDDS family.

CDDS is following all government guidelines in order to remain open.

Know before you go:
  • If anyone feels sick - stay home.
  • If dancers travel to a state which RI requires a 14 day quarantine upon return, within 14 days of class, they are not able to attend. RIDOH
  • Regardless of outside socialization, social distancing must be maintained at all times while at the Studio. Please follow all protocols set up inside and outside the building as we must uphold our COVID-19 Control Plan.
  • Masks must be on at all times inside the Studio and when lined up outside (upon exiting vehicle).
  • Only students and Staff are permitted inside the Studio. Parents of students ages 9 and up remain in vehicle. (See Drop Off/Pick Up Process below.)
  • There is no use of changing areas. Bathrooms are available for use by dancers and Staff.
  • Arrive no earlier than 5 minutes before class begins for drop off/ends for pickup. It is very important to arrive on time. Late arrivals may not be allowed in, late pickups will challenge flow for other classes.
  • CDDS Staff are ready to take care of your childrens needs and safety while inside the Studio.
Do before you go:
  • Review Screening Tool every time you are coming to the Studio- if you answer Yes to any of the questions, do not come.
    • It is important this Screening Tool is taken most seriously and honestly. 
  • Take dancer's temperature before leaving home. Temperature of 100.4 F is considered a fever - stay home.
  • Bring student to the bathroom and change into dance clothes at home before coming to the Studio.  We want to limit bathroom usage and crossing paths as much as possible.  The bathroom is available for emergencies, but if we can avoid the "potty parade" we would like to try :)
  • Make sure your online account contact information is up to date incase we need to reach you. Anyone doing drop off/pickup should be in your account.
What to wear:
  • Dress Code - Hair must be securely pulled back and not fixed during class. (Use hair elastics, no scrunchies)
  • Dance shoes must be worn during class. Students may not be barefoot.
  • Arrive in just your dance clothes, hair done, mask on, specified dance shoes on, easy on/off slide sandals, mask. (Do not wear dance shoes on ground outside.)
    • Mommy & Me: Ballet shoes, Parent must wear socks (cannot be barefoot), props in a small bag
    • Primary: Arrive in Ballet shoes, carry Tap shoes in-hand.
    • Jazz/Tap 1: Arrive in Jazz shoes, carry Tap shoes in-hand.
    • Musical Theater: Arrive in Jazz shoes. (No other shoes needed.)
    • Company Mondays: Arrive in Ballet shoes, carry small bag of Jazz shoes, Contemporary shoes, black dance shorts/leggings, water bottle.
What to bring:
  • Required dance shoes for class in-hand (no dance bag).
  • Printed filled out and signed Waiver on your first visit to the Studio. 
  • Mommy & Me: Bring your own props in a small bag: 6"-12" ball, rhythm sticks (ie. wooden kitchen utensils, Lummi sticks), scarf, small stuffed animal, stickers, shaker toy (ie. percussion egg, rattle). Car keys can be store in bag during class.
  • Company Mondays: Bring in a small bag- black dance shorts, jazz shoes, contemporary shoes, water bottle. Dance shoes must be worn in class.  Bag will be kept in your designated dance space (so keep it small!).
  • Do not bring cell phones, dance bag, food/drink, or anything else. Car keys may be left in waiting room with shoes. Certain longer classes will be allowed to bring a small water bottle and will be notified. 
Arrival/Drop Off Process:
  • Use the bathroom before arriving to the Studio.
  • Arrive 5 minutes before your class start time and remain in vehicle until Studio opens. A staff member will come outside.
  • Put on specified dance shoes, slide sandals and mask before exiting your car. (Do not wear dance shoes on ground outside.)
    • Mommy & Me: Ballet shoes, Parent must wear socks (cannot be barefoot), props in a small bag
    • Primary: Arrive in Ballet shoes, carry Tap shoes in-hand.
    • Jazz/Tap 1: Arrive in Jazz shoes, carry Tap shoes in-hand.
    • Musical Theater: Arrive in Jazz shoes. (No other shoes needed.)
    • Company Mondays: Arrive in Ballet shoes, carry small bag of Jazz shoes, Contemporary shoes, black dance shorts/leggings, water bottle.
  • Studio doors open 5 minutes before your scheduled class start time for screening and entrance process.
  • Line up outside on distance markers.
    • Warwick Studio - Parents of children 9 and under-  5 minutes before class begins, exit vehicle with mask on and line up with student outside on distance markers until they enter the Studio, and then return to vehicle.
    • Smithfield Studio - Parents of children 11 and under- 5 minutes before class begins, exit vehicle with mask on and line up with student outside on distance markers until they enter the Studio, and then return to vehicle.
    • Parents, promptly return to vehicle and exit the parking lot to make room for the next class.
  • Upon entering the Studio, dancer submits paperwork, remove sandals, sanitize hands, staff take contactless temperature and then guide dancer to designated dancing space with dance shoes in-hand.
    • If Studio thermometer reads temperature of 100.4 F or higher, parent will be called to pick up dancer. Staff will wait with dancer outside the building.
  • Arrive no earlier than 5 minutes before class begins for drop off. It is very important to arrive on time. Late arrivals may not be allowed in. Early and late arrivals will challenge flow for other classes.
During Class:
  • Classrooms and curriculum have been redisigned to uphold government guidelines and additional safety measures.
  • Students will remain inside the same dance room for the entirety of the class.
  • Bathroom should be used only if absolutely necessary. Student must notify Office Staff after use to sanitize room.
  • Dance shoes must be worn during class, dancers may not dance barefoot.
Exit/Pick Up Process:
  • Parents arrive 5 minutes before the end of your dancer's class. Staff will dismiss students one at a time.
    • Warwick Studio - Parents of children 9 and under-  2 minutes before class ends, exit vehicle with mask on and line up outside on distance markers for dancer to meet you, and then return to vehicle.
    • Smithfield Studio - Parents of children 11 and under- 2 minutes before class ends, exit vehicle with mask on and line up outside on distance markers for dancer to meet you, and then return to vehicle.
  • Please promptly return to your vehicle and exit the parking to make room for the next class.
  • Arrive no earlier than 5 minutes before class ends for pickup. It is very important to arrive on time. 
  • Early pickups are not permitted. Early and late pickups will challenge flow for other classes.
Notes:
  • Parents, please do not congregate outside the Studio.  Arrive only 5 minutes before class begins/ends and exit the parking lot promptly to make room for the next class. If you are too early or late, it will interfere with flow of other classes.
  • When purchasing a mask for dance, Bloch makes one in black that Miss Carolyn suggests. Available at Competitors Closet in Warwick. See information regarding approved face coverings.
