Covid Safety In-Studio Guidelines
Updated 5/20/22.
Policies subject to change. As always, safety continues to be a priority.
Thank you for your patience, understanding and support as we have all navigated through these past two years together.  

As the situation evolves, we will continue to adapt in order to provide our clients and employees with the safest environments possible. 
  • Masks optional. No distancing in-studio.
  • Only students and staff continue to be allowed in the Studio.
  • Never attend if sick, and email the studio immediately if the student tests positive.
  • Arrival/dismissal process remains the same
  • We will continue a sanitizing protocol, use our HVAC filtration systems, and take advantage of our small class sizes in large spaces. 
  • Email notices will be sent if there is a positive case in a class. 
  • If you would like to have your dancer continue to wear a mask at the Studio, we encourage you to do so. Students who arrive in a mask will be required to keep their mask on.
*CDDS has the right to extend a students return in-Studio from close contact, quarantine, travel or testing positive for Covid-19. Each situation is unique and will be addressed on an individual case by case situation.* 

*Students cannot come in-studio until given a specific return date by the Studio. We cannot make decisions on day-of-class case notifications. Stay home if your situation is pending.*

Please always email us right away if a student tests positive so we can notify families of classes within 48 hours promptly.

1. Covid Positive:
  • Cannot attend in-studio until after 5 full days from positive test and symptom/fever free for 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medication). Must wear a mask until day 10 from positive test is complete.
  • Test not required to return.
  • Positive household member: See close contact below.
2. Sick:
  • Cannot come in if they are sick/not feeling well.  
    • This includes any ONE symptom such as runny nose, fatigue, headache, etc. See CDC page for full list of symptoms. 
  • A negative Covid test is required to return in-studio, plus no sick symptoms. 
    • State/pharmacy PCR preferable, state/pharmacy rapid and at-home test accepted.
    • Test not required if tested positive within past 90 days.
  • Email if will be absent (see absent format below).
3. Close Contact:
  • To non-household member: Can continue attending in-studio wearing well-fitted mask, until results received from Covid test taken after 5 full days from last contact. Then mask no longer required.
  • To household member who is isolating: Cannot attend in-studio until results received from a test taken after 5 full days from last contact. Once results received, can return in-studio without mask.
  • To household member who is not isolating: Cannot attend in-studio until results received from a test taken after 5 full days from last contact. If negative result, for 10 days from household member positive test, student can return in-studio wearing a mask and taking a Covid test each day of class before coming in.
  • For the above:
    • Email if positive (see absent format below).
    • Do not attend if sick/symptomatic.
    • State/pharmacy PCR preferable, state/pharmacy rapid and at-home test accepted.
    • Test/mask not required if tested positive within past 90 days.
4. Travel
  • Can continue attending in-studio and test required after 5 days from return. Email if positive.
    • Email if positive (see absent format below).
    • Do not attend if sick/symptomatic.
    • State/pharmacy PCR preferable, state/pharmacy rapid and at-home test accepted.
    • Test/mask not required if tested positive within past 90 days.
5. Social Gatherings (ie. wedding, school dance, party, etc.)
  • Can continue attending in-studio and test required after 5 days from event.
    • Email if positive (see absent format below).
    • Do not attend if sick/symptomatic.
    • State/pharmacy PCR preferable, state/pharmacy rapid and at-home test accepted.
    • Test/mask not required if tested positive within past 90 days.
  • See close contact if applicable.

Subject: Absent Dancer, Dancer Name
Include in Email all that apply:
    -Student full name:
    -Classes and Studio location you attend (ex. Warwick Wednesday 4pm Preschool).
    -Date of absence:
    -Reason:
    -If Covid related, include as much detail as possible (ex.  last date in-studio and what classes, vaccination status, close contact date and details, quarantine end date, date of first symptom, Covid test date and results, test status of other household members, if a household member is positive can they isolate?)
    -Online make-up class attending and date:
Online make-up classes are available for some classes. See website for an online class option as schedule may differ from your regular class.

Please Note:
  • Students cannot come in-studio until given a specific return date by the Studio. Stay home if your situation is pending.
  • The Studio has the right to extend a student’s return in-Studio.
  • Per state guidelines:  Businesses have the authority to establish and implement policies regarding face masks, distancing or other measures that are more restrictive than the State rules.
  • Covid Safety policies set by CDDS may differ from other businesses/schools. Policies subject to change.
  • CDDS protocols have kept the Studio successfully operating in-person since June 2020: passing all inspections, maintaining 6ft distance to avoid close contacts and closing classrooms, etc.
  • We are trusting that everyone is being honest to uphold the health and safety of our dance family as this is very important to us. Thank you for helping to keep CDDS a safe place!
Student Vaccination Status:
  • CDDS does not require students to be vaccinated.
  • Please send the following information in the below format. Do not send until your dancer receives their second shot, or if they are not getting vaccinated at all. If they receive a booster later on, please email an update.

Classes continue to be masked and distanced.

*IN-STUDIO COVID SAFETY*
  1. Masks optional.
  2. Do not send a dancer if the above 5 policies apply (sick, close contact, covid positive, travel, social gathering). Always notify us via email info@carolyndutradancestudio.com - See  Absent Notice format.
  3. *CDDS has the right to extend a students return in-Studio from quarantine, travel or testing positive for Covid-19. Each situation is unique and will be addressed on an individual case by case situation.*
  4. Only students and staff are permitted inside the buildings. Make sure your online account contact information is up to date incase we need to reach you. Anyone doing drop off/pickup should be in your account.
  5. There is no use of waiting room or changing areas. Students must arrive ready for class. Bring student to the bathroom and change into dance clothes at home before coming to the Studio.
  6. Parent/Guardian must sign most updated online Required Policies and Agreements upon enrollment.
  7. Studio sanitizing protocols are still in place. Everyone sanitizes hands upon entrance and exit. All props, equipment, ballet bars, high touch points are sanitized for classes.
  8. Warwick and Smithfield Studios have Phenomenal Aire Ionization Generator Technology HVAC system. "Lab verified and certified deactivates Covid-19 with a 99.4% reduction." An ionization generator technology unit that kills viruses, mold and bacteria, and eliminates allergens and odors.
  9. Classrooms and curriculum have been redesigned to uphold Covid safety.
  10. We cannot always accommodate late arrivals or early dismissals. Students must attend the entire duration of class.
  11. Most importantly - Never attend in-Studio class when you are sick.
Staff/Faculty:
  1. All staff are vaccinated.
  2. Employees have been trained on all Covid Safety Protocols.
What to Bring:
  • Toddler & Me bring your own props in a small bag - rhythm sticks (ie. wooden kitchen utensils, Lummi sticks), scarf, small stuffed animal, stickers, shaker toy (ie. percussion egg, rattle).
  • Preschool/Primary: Small dance bag with tap shoes.  No water bottle.
  • Primary/Acro Combo: Tap shoes in hand, extra mask in zip-loc bag and small water bottle in small dance bag.
  • Level 1-2 Ballet/Jazz/Tap Combo: Tap and Jazz shoes, small water in small dance bag. Black dance shorts/leggings optional for Jazz/Tap
  • Level 3-4 Contemporary/Jazz/Tap Combo: Tap and Jazz shoes, small water in small dance bag. Black dance shorts/leggings optional for Jazz/Tap
  • Acro: nothing
  • Hip Hop: Hip Hop sneakers in-hand. *Do not wear sneakers worn outside into class.
  • Do not bring anything else that is not noted above. If inhaler/medication required notify Studio via email.
Arrival:
  • See website for dress code. All dancers arrive wearing Ballet shoes inside slide sandals or easy on/off slip ons. Do not wear dance shoes on ground outside. (Level 3/4 wear contemporary shoes, Acro barefoot - socks when cold.)
  • Dancers must already be dressed in dance clothes. 
  • As the weather changes, do wear easy on/off warm layer over dance clothes as needed, and  when raining.
  • Hair securely and neatly pulled back. Always a bun for ballet.
  • Have dancer use the bathroom before arriving to the Studio.
  • Arrive 5 minutes before your class start time line up outside on distance markers.
  • Always park in Studio parking lot. Do not park or wait for dancers in neighboring businesses.
  • Arrive no earlier than 5 minutes before class begins for drop off. It is very important to arrive on time. Late arrivals may not be allowed in. Early and late arrivals will challenge flow for other classes.
  • Parents, promptly return to vehicle and exit the parking lot to make room for the next class. Cars cannot remain parked in the Studio parking lot during classes (except for Toddler & Me)
  • Line Up By Age/Studio
    • Warwick Studio: Front Room classes - line up at front door.   Back Room classes - line up at back door
      • Students 9 and under-  Parent line up with student 5 minutes before class begins, exit vehicle with mask on and line up with student outside on distance markers until they enter the Studio, and then return to vehicle.
      • Students 10 and up - Just dancer line up outside 5 minutes before class begins. Parents may remain in vehicle.
    • Smithfield & Cranston Studios: All classes enter through front entrance
      • Students 11 and under- Parent line up with student 5 minutes before class begins, exit vehicle with mask on and line up with student outside on distance markers until they enter the Studio, and then return to vehicle.
      • Students 12 and up - Just dancer line up outside 5 minutes before class begins. Parents may remain in vehicle.
    • Closed Class, Preparatory, Pee Wee Company- Students may line up alone. Parents may line up with dancers if preferred.
Pick-Up After Class:
  • Parents arrive 5 minutes before the end of your dancer's class. Staff will dismiss students one at a time.
  • Always park in Studio parking lot.
  • Dancer/Parent Line Up By Age/Studio
    • Warwick Studio: Front Room classes - line up at front door.   Back Room classes - line up at back door
      • Students 9 and under-  Parent line up 2 minutes before class ends, exit vehicle with mask on and line up outside on distance markers for dancer to meet you, and then return to vehicle.
      • Students 10 and up - Parents may remain in vehicle. Students will be dismissed one at a time.
    • Smithfield & Cranston Studios: All classes enter through front entrance
      • Students 11 and under- Parent line up 2 minutes before class ends, exit vehicle with mask on and line up outside on distance markers for dancer to meet you, and then return to vehicle.
      • Students 12 and up - Parents may remain in vehicle. Students will be dismissed 2 minutes before class ends, exit vehicle with mask on and line up outside on distance markers for dancer to meet you, and then return to vehicle.
    • Closed Class, Preparatory, Pee Wee Company- Parent line up on distance markers 5 minutes before end of class. Dancers will be dismissed to you one at a time.  Pickup person must be 16+ (It's nighttime at pickup, we would like parents to exit cars and get young dancers)
    • Please promptly return to your vehicle and exit the parking to make room for the next class.
    • Arrive no earlier than 5 minutes before class ends for pickup. It is very important to arrive on time. 
    • Early pickups are not permitted. Early and late pickups will challenge flow for other classes.
  • Notes:
    • Parents, please do not congregate outside the Studio.  Arrive only 5 minutes before class begins/ends and exit the parking lot promptly to make room for the next class. If you are too early or late, it will interfere with flow of other classes.
    • Payments are non-refundable.
CDDS Community Promise
As government guidelines are expanding and vaccines roll out, we ask our dance family to support a CDDS Community Promise to continue upholding safety as priority.  We trust everyone will continue to follow all government and in-Studio guidelines. Please stay up to date on the State Covid recommendations and requirements. https://covid.ri.gov

  • All three CDDS locations have passed inspection by the DBR Covid Task Force. We are proud to be able to provide a safe happy place for our dancers. Thank you for your trust and dedication to our CDDS family.
  • CDDS follows all Covid government regulations, with additional safety precautions, in order to remain open and staff are ready to take care of your children's needs and safety while inside the Studio! Class curriculums have been adapted and smaller class sizes created for Covid safety.
