Expectations & Reminders

The following applies to ALL dancers auditioning for Company, whether new or returning.
Dancers are being evaluated for Company placement and choreography at all times. Evaluation begins as soon as dancers enter the studio. We are looking for more than just dance technique. CDDS Company is a TEAM, and how you learn, work, and treat the people around you matters!
  • Studio doors open 15 minutes before class so dancers can promptly get ready and enter the dance room. Do not be late.
    • Company Mondays: Be at the Ballet barre and ready to begin by the start of class.
    • Intensive & Audition Workshop/Camp: Be ready for your first scheduled class.
  • Say hello to faculty, staff, and teammates when you arrive, and thank your teachers after class.
  • Come into the classroom ready to learn, work hard, and do your best.
  • Stay focused and engaged with your teachers. Make eye contact when they are speaking and ask smart questions.
  • NO TALKING with other dancers during class, while teachers are teaching, or while waiting for your turn.
  • Listen to all corrections, not only the ones given directly to you, and think about how you can apply them to yourself.
  • Accept corrections and challenges with a positive attitude. Keep trying, even when something is difficult or you make a mistake.
  • Use the bathroom before or between classes, not during class unless it is an emergency.
  • Bring a water bottle with an attached lid and only take water breaks when designated by the teacher.
  • Hydrate and eat a healthy meal before class. Breaks between classes are for using the bathroom, having a quick snack, changing shoes, and promptly returning to the dance room.
  • Cell phones are collected. This is a time to be present, unplug, and spend time with your teammates!
  • Always show kindness, respect, and good sportsmanship toward your teachers and peers.
  • Support and encourage your teammates. Company is a team, and we want everyone to succeed!
  • Be a positive leader through your actions and set a good example for those around you.
  • Help create a positive environment where everyone can learn, grow, work hard, and have fun!
Be the best dancer you can be. Work hard, stay focused, support your teammates, and HAVE FUN! :)
