Smithfield All Lit Up Parade 12/7/24

Pee Wee, Rhythmette, Junior and Senior Company and Level 4/5 dancers march and dance in the Smithfield All Lit Up Parade! A fun routine will be taught in classes. No additional rehearsal.
Parade starts at 4:30pm from Smithfield High School ending at lighting of the tree in the town green across from Smithfield Fire Department headquarters. Last year we made it to the end around 5:45pm

- Acro 1 dancers attend Acro 2 on 12/7/24 and can get ready at the studio.
Arrival/Pickup Details:
- Arrival: 3:45pm All dancers meet at the Vincent J. Gallagher Middle School parking lot.
- Parents drop off at the middle school and staff walk dancers to the High School as a group.
- Remain in your cars to stay warm if you are early.
- Dancers leave all belongings with parents.
- Promptly at 3:50pm staff walk dancers to the High School next door.
- If a dancer arrives and is not dressed warmly, they cannot participate.
- Parents cannot join or walk along the route and must pick up at the end. Parade staff will enforce this.
- If you are late and our group left the Middle School, parents park at the Middle School and walk your dancer over the field to the High School parking lot and find us in the line up. If we haven't left already, join us!
- Dancers can use the bathroom at the High School as soon as we get there. There are no bathroom stops along the parade route.
- Pickup: Parents pick up dancer immediately following the end of the parade, in the back parking lot of St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Approximately 5:45pm(See picture below)
- Parade length is approximately 1.5 miles. We don't know exactly how long it will take us to march- see you at the end!
- Parents of students driving themselves must email us by 11/25 with permission to leave on their own.
- Students driving themselves must arrange a ride back to their car from the end of the parade in advance.
- The end of any parade can feel hectic. It goes quickly, parking is limited, roads are closed, and the exact time we will get to the end of a parade is unpredictable. Police will be at the end of the route to direct parking.
- Staff will stay with all dancers until everyone is picked up.

- Illness/Injury: If a dancer is starting to come down with something, still recovering from being sick, or has any kind of injury, they cannot participate in the parade. Email now if they cannot attend so we do not expect them. FOMO aside, with the Nutcracker coming up, this is very important!
- Parking/Road closures: Roads close at 4:15pm. Parking is available at Greenville Public Library, the old William Winsor School as well as other public parking areas in Greenville.
- Temperature: Yes, it will be freezing. It is VERY important to layer and dress warm. If a dancer arrives without wearing warm layers we will not take them with us. We will be moving and dancing and keeping warm along the route, and having fun :)
- Bathroom: There is no bathroom along the route. Go before you come and use the restroom inside Smithfield High School quickly right when we get there.

- We will notify via email/text/social media if we must cancel due to inclement weather. Decision will be made no later than December 2, 10am.
- Check email/text/social media for arrival/pickup updates
- If you have epi pen or inhaler, but in ziplock labeled with your name and keep in your pocket.
- Do not bring anything else with you. If you are driving, keep car keys in your pocket.
What to Wear:
- DRESS WARM!
- LIGHT UP! This is a big one - - wear glow sticks, wrap yourself in lights, glowing gloves, necklace, santa hat, shoe lates, etc! (If you have questions on your glow items email them in advance.)
- A Santa hat (can be light up)
- Black leggings. Wear tights and layers under for warmth.
- Any all black winter outerwear over warm layers - It's cold!
- Red Winter Accessories (minimal logos/designs please. Can be CDDS logo):
- Red gloves, red scarf (short just around neck, not long past waist)
- Red calf-high socks and/or red legwarmers (solid red, not decorated, wear outside of leggings).
- Optional: Red or white ear warmer headband can be worn under the Santa hat for extra warmth.
- Black sneakers. (don't have to be 100% solid black but minimal other colors please.)
Makeup/Hair/Earrings:
- Full performance eye makeup (false eyelashes)
- Add glitter and shine so your faces stand out at night!
- Low bun, center part.
- Rhinestone earrings.
